As I already mentioned, I am physicist. On this page I like to present my physics project
to the interessted surfer ans scientist.
To start, here is my scientific CV (including what I did at this places)
My scientific CV:
- Starting in 1987 I studied physics at the Free University of Berlin (FU Berlin).
- I finished my studies there with my diploma in 1993. The diploma in Germany is
roughly equivalent to the master in the England or the USA.
It take at least 5 years at the university to reach tthis degree (usally it take 6 years).
The diploma is necessarily required for make a PhD in Germany. There is nothing like Bachelor, yet.
To achieve this diplom you have to do some research and write a thesis about it.
I did this in the group of Prof. Helfrich.
They are working on lipid membranes, either theoretically and experimantally.
Lipid membranes are model system for membranes in animals, e.g. cell membranes
(For those who are less familiar with the topic of membarnes and surfactants, I wrote
a littel introduction).
My part in this group was a Monte-Carlo-Simulation of a supertructure
on lipid membranes
(The full diploma thesis as pdf, 2 MB.
Please note, the thesis is written in German. For English text about my work, see below the
paper together with W. Helfrich).
- After finishing my diploma I moved on to the
colloid and interface research in Teltow, near Berlin.
I joined there the Theory ...., lets say division.
I was there for four year (three as a PhD-student and another as post-doc).
During this time I worked on Computer simulations of surfactant water system
(The full PhD thesis as pdf,
12 MB, Please note, the thesis is written in German. For English text about my work, see below the
papers together with R. Lipowsky).
And guess, that was exactly the title of my PhD-thesis.
- Unfortunately the chance for an academic carreer are not to good these times in Germany,
especially if you are doing numerics. Hence I move to the "industry".
And - thanks Good - I found a little company looking for a numerical scientist, doing
really intersting things. Hence, I started working on somthing like Artificial intelligence
at Novel Science International GmbH. It was great fun there.
- Since September 2002 I working for
CPI (Creative Pharma International).
Its quite similar to what I did before, but more focused to life science applications.
